Y2K Cover Band Seeking Keyboard Player
SEEKING A COVER KEYBOARD PLAYER who not necessarily has to have mad chops, but who is musical and talented enough to cover the right parts at the right times. And don’t take this wrong – we’d even be interested in talking to programmers who program most of the parts and then play some basic parts live over the top. Since this project is wide open right now, we could go either way honestly.

I've put together two successful cover bands in SE Wisconsin. Both played Summerfest multiple times over the years. Summerfest highlights include headlining Jo Jo's twice, a HUGE Saturday afternoon slot at the Miller Lite stage, and opening for Gin Blossoms. It comes down to covering songs tightly, creativity, professionalism...and agency connections.

As a first step, I’m posting to see if there's any interest out there in what I call a "Y2K Cover Band". Let's face it, the key 21-31 year old live music consumer was born in the late 80’s/early 90's and were in middle school, high school and college in the first two decades of Y2K. This band will play the soundtrack to those best years of their lives. Don’t worry, it wasn’t all Nelle and Snoop Dog…there were at least 1-2 dozen “band songs” each year on the Hot 100. We can easily put together a 3-hour, 36-45 song show no problem.

Now, back to keyboards… If you’re a monster…that’s great. If you’re a minimalist…that’s great. We’re really looking for someone who’s wheelhouse is playing along with their favorite songs (ie someone who loves covering pop tunes). This person is musical enough to choose the right parts to play. This person can dial in the correct sounds. This person makes great musical choices. If keyboards have a “rest”…they don’t play ;) Ability to program/sequence is a plus. Ability to sing lead and/or harmonies is a plus but not necessary. We’re looking for someone with the spirit, ambition and desire to be a part of a successful, professional cover band with the goal of earning some big shows.

If interested, contact me via email. Please give me an overview:

- Name, Gender, Where you live

- Experience

- Are you currently in a group? Do you think it will be a conflict? If you plan on leaving your current situation…why?

- Why do you want to be in a band? Hobby? Money? Pleasure? Experience? What’s motivating you?

- Singing is not required but would be a plus. Do you sing? If so, lead vocals, harmonies, both? Can you sing and play? How easy is it for you to sing and play?

- What else can you tell me?

- What is the best way to contact you?
